After a long forced hiatus after we made Monday nights too crazy broadcasting from the front window of, and thus got, our former venue in trouble with their liquor license…. We’ve now relaunched The REFRESH, broadcasting from the front of Kinfolk 90 in Brooklyn! And now we’re broadcasting and doing the show/event on 1st and 3rd Thursdays during happy hour at the bar. We’ve already done 8 shows from our new venue with the whole front garage door of the bar open to the street. We’ve also incorporated up and coming visual artists into the mix — doing a pop-up style art exhibit during our broadcast. Music, art, happy hour drinks — not much better than that mix. Take a listen to our latest episode, The REFRESH Radio Show # 114 for a taste.
Yesterday, my mix Excuse The Exxxpression, It's Sexual Tension was premiered by LargeUp.com. It's a 100% x-rated dancehall mix, the third in my series of curated concept mixtapes this year. (Peep the others below.) Also honored to be featured on Kingston 2 LA. You're going to be hard-pressed to find a better dancehall mix for your dance party once the lights go down.
Today I released a brand-new DJ mix, Summer Leaves Change To Fall (A Cuffing Season Mix). It's a 97-min concept/theme mix on saying farewell to Summer, saying hello to the Fall (and cuffing season). The cover art is original design by my friend Lily McFly.
I recently had a opportunity to follow up on a 6,500 word story I wrote a few years ago for Forbes.com on the label/collective Soulection by producing and directing a video on Forbes 30 Under 30 2017 list in music honoree, Joe Kay, for Forbes' 30 Under 30 video series.
